Few weeks ago, the Lord reminded me that it was important for spouses to continually inspire one another. According to dictionary, inspire means to make someone feel that they want to do something and can do it. Other words to mean inspire include impel, influence, galvanise, stir, rouse, encourage, motivate, energize etc.
Life’s battles are never meant to be fought alone. God does placed people around us to encourage and motivate us. Likewise, He will use us to encourage others too. Apart from the house of God, encouragement should come readily from our family. The house is to be the place to start cultivating an atmosphere of encouragement, inspiration, grace, and love. Children will be able to find encouragement from their parents. Husbands and wives can mutually encourage and inspire one another through prayers, affirming words and loving actions.
Do not undermine the power of your words. Proverbs 25:11 says “The right word at the right time is like a custom-made piece of jewelry” (The Message). You’ll never know how one kind word given on time can make a great difference for another.
Fathers, affirm your child today. Wives, look for ways to continually encourage your husbands today. Husbands, be a positive influence to your wives. Brothers, encourage one another. Buddies, be willing to lift up the ones who are down and out. Be there for someone today! Be there for your loved ones. We all need encouragement.
